Melt the butter:
Slowly melt the butter together with the whole garlic cloves in a saucepan over medium heat until the butter turns golden. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Prepare an ice bath:
Meanwhile, prepare an ice water bath in a large bowl. The bowl should be big enough to hold a smaller metal bowl inside it.
Blend the garlic and whip the butter: 
Pour the melted butter along with the garlic cloves into a suitable container and blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Then transfer the mixture to the metal bowl set over the ice bath and blend on high speed until it becomes creamy. This takes about 2–4 minutes.
Serve:
Spoon the finished garlic butter into a small bowl and serve, for example, with fresh bread, grilled meat, or vegetables. Best enjoyed while still slightly warm!
