Handle
The PEFC-certified hornbeam wood comes from sustainably managed forests in the Jura and Vercors regions. It is a white wood with minimal grain, making it ideal for applying color without distortion. The handle is lacquered for better protection against moisture and dirt.
Yatagan Blade
Opinel’s traditional blade is called Yatagan. Its shape is inspired by a Turkish sabre with an upturned tip. The blade is ground with an exclusive convex profile, ensuring durability and easy resharpening.
Safety Ring
The Virobloc safety ring was invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. It is present on all folding knives from model No. 06 onward. The Virobloc is made of stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safe use), it also allows the blade to be locked when closed (for safe transport).
