Safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring was invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel. It is found on all folding knives from model No. 06 onwards. The Virobloc is cut from stainless steel and consists of two sections: one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safe use), it also allows the blade to be locked in the closed position (for safe transport).
Simple, functional and clever – the Opinel knife is a timeless design icon that has gained worldwide popularity. In 2020, the brand celebrated its 130th anniversary. This longevity is due to the commitment of four generations of the Opinel family and many generations of workers and employees who preserved their ancestors’ know-how, respected the brand’s roots, and helped it continue to grow. 130 years – always sharp, always evolving, trusted and beloved.
