The Virobloc safety ring, developed by Opinel in 1955, is fitted to all folding knives from the No 06 upwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position for safe use, it can also lock the blade closed for safe transport.
