This Opinel No. 10 pocket knife was developed in the 19th century in Savoy and remains a versatile classic for all kinds of uses – whether indoors or outdoors. The 10 cm long blade is made of high-quality XC90 carbon steel, offering exceptional sharpness and easy resharpening. The handle, made from dried beechwood, sits comfortably in the hand and is protected against moisture by a special lacquer coating. The proven Virobloc system allows the blade to be securely locked in the open or closed position.

Carbon Steel XC90
The carbon steel used by Opinel is an unalloyed high-carbon steel that achieves excellent durability after heat treatment. This ensures perfect edge retention, high wear resistance, and easy resharpening. However, carbon steel is less resistant to corrosion caused by moisture. Therefore, certain precautions should be taken: never store your knife in damp places, especially not in the dishwasher. After use, clean the blade with an oiled cloth and regularly oil the blade and pivot joints.

Note: Carbon steel blades are very susceptible to corrosion. They should be dried after each use and regularly oiled.

Safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring was invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel. It is featured on all folding knives from model No. 06 onwards. The Virobloc is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed section and a sliding section. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safe use), it also allows the blade to be locked in the closed position (for safe transport).
