The year is 1950 in beautiful Lausanne, Switzerland. With modern music and fitted petticoats, young people are living out their desire for freedom and spreading a new spirit of optimism. Inspired by American rock'n'roll influences and - thanks to technological progress - new conveniences, social structures begin to change. Technical developments are also finding their way into households: washing machines and the like are making housework easier. The story of the ESGE Magic Wand® also begins during this exciting and transformative time. The engineer Roger Perrinjaquet develops his first hand blender and applies for a patent. This patent application describes the world's first hand blender. Just four years later, this patent is sold to the German company ESGE KG in Neuffen, Baden-Württemberg. The initials of the surnames of the two company founders, Werner Spingler ("ES") and Josef Gschwend ("GE"), form the basis for the product designation and company name we know today. The first ESGE-Zauberstab® was finally produced at the end of 1954. In 1960, the company headquarters were moved to their current location in Mettlen in the Swiss canton of Thurgau. For 70 years, the one-product strategy has formed the DNA of the company and remains a unique success story. Erich Eigenmann (CEO - ESGE AG) knows the reason: "ESGE AG never focuses on quantity, but on quality, individuality, tailor-made solutions and Swissness." Starting with the core component of the ESGE-Zauberstab®, the powerful AC motor, around 90 percent of the components are manufactured in Switzerland and assembled in the factory in Mettlen. The decades of experience of the 50 employees and the manual quality checks after each assembly stage ensure the consistent product quality and durability of every ESGE-Zauberstab®. In the truest sense of the word "Made in Switzerland".
