Oven-baked Kebab

Spicy minced meat, creamy garlic sauce, and fresh toppings—this homemade kebab is easy to make and really delicious.

Ingredients

For 4 Kebabs

Quantity

  • 400 g minced meat (or plant-based alternative)

  • Kebab bread

  • 1 tsp caraway seeds

  • 2 onions

  • 2–3 cloves of garlic or garlic powder

  • 200 g yoghurt

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Lettuce

  • Tomatoes

  • Additional toppings of your choice

Preparation

Prepare the minced meat:
Finely dice the onion. Thoroughly mix the minced meat with caraway seeds, paprika powder, diced onion, salt and pepper. Divide the mixture into at least 4 equal portions. Place each portion on a piece of baking parchment, lay another sheet of parchment on top and roll out thinly and evenly.

Bake:
Remove the top sheet of parchment. Carefully roll up or lightly fold the bottom sheet with the meat so that it remains stable. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C (fan) for about 15–20 minutes.

Prepare the yoghurt sauce:
Finely grate or crush the garlic cloves and stir into the yoghurt. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare the toppings:
Wash and chop the lettuce. Slice the tomatoes and onions thinly. Prepare any additional toppings as desired.

Slice and fry the meat:
After baking, remove the meat from the oven, unroll it and cut into small pieces or tear into strips. For extra crunch, briefly fry the meat in a hot pan. If you like, lightly toast the sliced bread as well.

Assemble the kebab:
Cut the kebab bread open about three-quarters of the way. Generously spread yoghurt sauce inside. Add the meat, top with lettuce and other toppings, and finish with a little more sauce.
